This qualification provides trade level training in amenity horticulture. Topics include the operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment, use of chemicals, irrigation system operation and maintenance, controlling weeds, controlling plant pests and diseases, understanding soil, plant propagation and plant nutrition. Other units can be included according to the needs of the student. This training is ideal for people working (or aspiring to work in) parks and gardens development and management in local government (councils), golf courses, commercial nurseries, Irrigated Public Open Space (IPOS) curators, and some areas of landscaping.
Duration of training is flexible and participants generally complete the qualification within 2-3 years.
